Transit Outlook — Week of 15 July 2024

(14 July 2024) The transits this week look potent.  As I have noted previously, the highlight is the exact Mars-Uranus conjunction which will occur on Monday, July 15 at 10.04 am EDT.  No doubt yesterday’s assassination attempt on Donald Trump is a partial manifestation of this energy since Mars was only one degree away from the conjunction on Saturday.   When Mars (assertion, action, violence) combines with Uranus (suddenness, innovation, rebellion) there is a greater likelihood for volatile and unexpected events.  But the risk of such events will tend to diminish after Monday as the conjunction begins to separate.  However, Tuesday afternoon’s opposition of the Moon to the Mars-Uranus conjunction could provide another catalyst for Mars-type events.  This intense three-planet alignment could also manifest as negative collective sentiment (anxiety, impulsive actions) which could coincide with some turbulence in financial markets.  Needless to say, this is not a good day to start new projects unless there is an martial component to them, such as military affairs or athletic endeavours.

Wednesday’s alignment of the Moon with Venus and Jupiter could bring some emotional relief in the wake of the current Mars-Uranus disturbance.  The Moon will be in Scorpio and forms an exact 120 degree trine aspect with Venus in the morning (EDT) and then 180 degrees from Jupiter in the afternoon.  Both are often favourable for optimism and activities that involve constructive expansion/progress.  The Moon’s transit through sidereal Scorpio will set up a very nice 9th house placement for all those planets in Cancer — Mercury, the Sun and Venus.  The 9th house is associated with law/justice, higher knowledge, and religious ideas so any activities related to these matters will likely find favour.  It is also connected with long-distance travel.  Wednesday could well be the best day of the week for any appointments, meetings or beginning any new ventures and projects.

Thursday’s Moon-Saturn square could be somewhat challenging, however, as pessimism will likely be in abundance. This may be felt most acutely in the morning.

Friday’s Mars-Moon alignment suggests an urgency to act and assert one’s will.  The Mars energy will be quite strong here since the red planet will also align with Neptune (5 Pisces) and Pluto (6 Capricorn).  The risk of interpersonal conflict is higher here since Mars tends to provide an outlet for acting on what one wants regardless of consequences.  Since none of the Mars aspects are hard (45/90/180 degrees), there is a better chance that the urge to act could be more balanced and constructive, i.e. it could take consequences into proper account.  The 120-degree Venus-Rahu aspect on Friday also softens this Mars alignment somewhat. Rahu tends to facilitate and exaggerate the Venusian need for wealth and value.

Saturday and Sunday look less promising as the Sun (5 Leo) and Mars (6 Taurus) align Pluto (6 Capricorn) while Mercury squares Uranus.  There is a sense of an unexpected and sudden (Uranus) and exercise of power in these transits as the Sun (government, leadership) blends with Mars (action, conflict, violence) and Pluto (coercion, power, transformation).  Given that the Sun and Mars will also align with Donald Trump’s Ascendant (6 Leo), this could be a time of renewed danger for the former president.  It may also be an event that reflects the full extent of his own personal authority and popularity with the American people following his nomination on Thursday at the GOP convention.  Sunday, July 21 seems like a particularly intense transit set up since the Moon will conjoin Pluto and oppose the Sun — a Full Moon in other words.  Actions taken under Sunday’s transits will likely have significant impact.

Research study: the Mars-Sun square aspect

(7 October 2024)  In the absence of objective and replicable data sources,  astrologers are typically forced to fall back on traditional understandings of planetary effects.  These astrological principles have been handed down through centuries of trial and error by...

Transit Outlook: Week of 7 October 2024; Jupiter turns retrograde

(6 October 2024)  The highlight this week would seem to be the retrograde station of Jupiter at 27 degrees of sidereal Taurus.  Retrograde stations occur when planets stop and reverse their apparent normal forward motion as seen from our...
