(9 June 2024) There is a real smorgasbord of planetary alignments this week. The ongoing Saturn square with the Sun, Mercury and Venus starts to separate early in the week and could provide some relief in matters involving the workplace and authority figures. Nonetheless, the alignment is still quite close and suggests that a sense of regulation, restriction and formality may continue to be felt. The Mercury-Saturn square is exact on Tuesday and Wednesday and may reflect poorly on business activity. With the Fed meeting slated for Wednesday, we could see some of this Saturnian pessimism manifest around the time of the meeting. However, we should note that the Mercury-Saturn square will be exact very early in the morning on Wednesday, New York time — well before the FOMC meeting — and thus much of its negative impact may have already manifested. .
Another potential source of concern is the early week Mars-Pluto square. This is a volatile combination that can symbolize violent or coercive events that involve the blunt exercise of power. Needless to say, this is not a good influence if you are undertaking a restorative or harmonious activity like a yoga class or a family get-together. It may therefore be a better time for something naturally confrontational like legal work, political activism or martial arts.
At the time same, however, there are also some fruitful alignments this week. Venus is due to change signs of Wednesday as it enters sidereal Gemini. Sign changes tend to bring out the essence of a planet and thus we could see more evidence of brighter side of Venus at midweek. Venus in Gemini suggests “beautiful or valued communication” and could be a positive factor for any ventures involving aesthetics some way, such as art exhibitions, creative writing or advertising. The favourable Venus influence will be further enhanced this week since Venus will form a mutual reception with Mercury since Venus is in Mercury’s sign of Gemini and Mercury is in Venus’s sign of Taurus. The combined Mercury-Venus influence should make any creative or artistic efforts that much more effective and captivating.
The late week could have a heavier feeling as the Moon transits Leo and thus opposes Saturn on Thursday. Moon-Saturn alignments can coincide with a more reflective mood as forward-looking optimism may be in shorter supply. Therefore, this is not a great time for meetings and appointments if the desired goal is cooperative progress and mutual benefit. But if a serious disposition and sober assessment of facts and reality is required, then this Moon-Saturn opposition would be quite appropriate.
Saturday and Sunday look more positive, as Mercury and the Sun also enter sidereal Gemini. This triple conjunction in early Gemini should be favourable for most endeavours, especially those that focus on research, analysis and communication. As an added twist, the Moon will be transiting through the other sign ruled by Mercury, namely Virgo. This will further emphasize the theme of information exchange and useful data analysis. And with Ketu also in Virgo, any ideas shared at this time may be particularly innovative and unusual and are likely to fall outside of what is considered traditional or conventional.
