(11 Oct 2026) Stocks were mostly higher last week as bond yields showed signs of stabilizing after oil prices held steady just above $90. While the gains were modest, all the major indexes finished green.
This bullish outcome appeared to reflect the strength of the positive alignments we are currently tracking. Last week, we analyzed the market impact of the 120-degree trine aspect of Jupiter to the precession-corrected position of the Moon in the 1792 NYSE chart. Our research showed that this was a bullish influence, especially up until to the day of its exact alignment. For the current alignment, this occurs on Oct 14.
Thus far, the S&P 500 (SPX) is tracking the historical norms of this alignment fairly closely, even if the price-weighted Dow (DJIA) continues to lag the cap-weighted indexes. Our study tested different iterations of this alignment and found that the first trine aspect of Jupiter to the NYSE Moon was the most bullish. The upcoming aspect on Oct 14 will be the first of three trine aspects, with the second and third taking place in 2027 following Jupiter’s next retrograde cycle. After Oct 14, the bullish influence of this alignment will begin to diminish.
The heliocentric tertiary progressed NYSE alignment of Mercury and Venus is another strongly positive factor for stocks. The updated cumulative trend chart below shows how the current alignment is mostly adhering to historical norms, at least for the more widely held SPX. The current alignment — exact on Sep 2 — has seen stocks rise 5% since the start of the backtest period in late July. However, further gains from this configuration are increasingly uncertain as the mean and medians show a levelling off towards the end of the backtest period. Also, we should note that since this alignment is reaching the end of its backtest period (Oct 12), it cannot be relied upon to support stock prices for much longer.
Other alignments may also be bullish for stocks. The post-alignment period of the Mercury-Mars-Pluto T-square (exact Oct 2) had a slightly bullish bias in its backtest. The updated cumulative chart below shows the SPX tracking the median result fairly closely although the Dow seems to have more affinity for the mean. With both the mean and median rising until the end of the backtest period on Oct 20, it is possible stocks could continue to remain fairly positive.
The heliocentric trine aspect of Jupiter and Saturn is another slightly bullish influence. The updated cumulative trend chart shows the SPX tracking above the upward sloping mean and median, while the Dow lags below. Further upside is possible from this aspect although we should not lose sight of the dramatic downturn could occur following the 30-day post-alignment mark (Oct 23). With such a small sample (n=5), we should not put too much faith in the exact timing or direction of this chart, however. But it does introduce the possibility of some weakness towards the end of October and into November….
